AIR2018 is a multi-disciplinary conference that aims to bring together leaders, professionals and researchers in both academia and industry from Malaysia and around the world. The conference is focused on the Manufacturing and Process Engineering sector and promises an innovative twist in its approach. Unlike conventional academic conferences, this event is tailored for participants from both industrial sector as well as academia. As its theme suggests, the overall purpose of AIR2018 is to strengthen the cooperation between universities and industries as well as Smart Manufacturing and Process Engineering. The conference features keynotes by distinguished speakers, plenary sessions and panel discussion by industrial leaders, and a number of paper presentations by the academia that are related to industrial applications.
The conference shall revolve around the main topic of Smart Manufacturing Technology and Process Engineering. The conference features presentation of papers denoting new product or technologies, sharing of success implementations, and industrial best practice. The 3rd International Conference on Electrical, Electronic, Communication and Control Engineering (ICEECC 2018) will be organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru on 28th-29th November 2018. The idea of the conference is for the scientists, scholars, engineers and students from Universities all around the world as well as from industry, to present their ongoing research activities. This conference is also served as a good platform to foster research relationship between Universities and industries. ICEECC2018 provide opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face, to establish business or research relations, and to find global partners for future collaboration. On September 14th 2017, Electronic & Computer Engineering department (ECED) has organised a workshop called 2nd series of Electronic Workshop for School Students 2017 (BES2017), at Computer System Laboratory, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. This 2nd series 2017 edition continues the productive collaboration between ECED with Seagate Inetrnational (Johor) Sdn. Bhd. as in previous organized three series since 2016. For this edition, the aims remains as follows:
The workshop was participated by 8 high schools from Johor Bahru; SMK Skudai, SMK Desa Skudai, SMK Sultan Alauddin, SMK Taman Universiti 1, MRSM Tun Dr Ismail, SMK Bandar Tenggara, SM Teknik Johor Bahru and Sekolah Tun Fatimah.
During the workshop, students were introduced to basic Arduino application in the form of practical sessions. The exciting part of this edition was that all participants were learned how to assemble an obstacle-avoiding RoboCar which involves the controlling of DC Motor, Servomotor, Ultrasonic Distance Sensor and Buzzer. During workshop, all lectures and activities were guided by instructors and facilitators from ECED (17 in total) and Seagate International (11 volunteers).
On that note, as the organizing committee, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Seagate for financial support as well as spending their time and effort joined the workshop and making the BES2017 a tremendous event. We do hope BES2017 2nd series enable to provide a valuable experience for participants and elevate their knowledge gained to beneficial use.
