Welcome to the Homepage of Computer vision, video and image Processing Research Group or simply known as CvviP. In this lab, we conduct both basic and applied research with focus mainly on image processing related problems. With our motto Moving Forward With Clear Vision, we strive to serve our community and our nation by imparting the knowledge and skills and solving problems in the area of Computer Vision, Video and Image Processing.

Despite its young age (established in 2004), CvviP at this stage has managed to secure many research grants both from the government and industries. Among others, Moving Object Detection using Active Vision (Vot. 68305), PCB Defect Inspection (Vot 72396), Intelligent Surveillance and Security System (Vot 74072), Depth Estimation for Nondestrucitve Testing Using Infrared Image (Vot 74271), Vision Based Barcode System (Vot. 79310), and Starfruit Quality and Defect Detection based on Vision System (Vot. 79366). The total amount received is more than 1 million ringgit. Notwithstanding its small size (3 permanent staffs), CvviP has secured few awards both internationally and locally. Interms of publication, we have published over 20 journal papers and over 70 conference papers at both international and local levels.

Currently, CvviP research lab consists of 3 permanent staffs with PhD, 9 PhD students, 4 Masters Students by Research. From time to time, we also have some Masters students as well as undergraduate final year students who are doing projects in line with the CvviP theme. Some of our ongoing projects in CvviP Research Lab are Malaysian Special Car Plate Recognition System, Vision-Based Biometric Recognition System, Human Activity Monitoring for Security and Surveillance Purposes, Automated Fruits Quality Inspection, MRI Brain Lesion Segmentation, and Image Compression based on Bit Pattern Table.
