Welcome to RACED
Department of Radio Communication was established in 1998 comprising of two areas which are radio communication and acoustic engineering. Radio communicationplays an important role within the commercial, business and public sector in almost all industrialized world. It is generally recognized as one of the most efficient way to increase effectiveness, to reduce operating costs and to preserve energy. Due to rapid growth over the past few decades, provision of adequate radio frequency spectrum to meet the increasing demand for licenses is primary concern to national regulatory administration both in the long and short terms.
Besides undergraduate course SET (B.Eng. in Electrical-Telecommunication), RaCED also offers postgraduate courses which are MET (M.Eng. in Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication) and PhD. The academic staffs within the department are experts in the area of microwave engineering and RF subsystem , digital modulation techniques, radar and satellite communication, EMC/EMI, antenna, mobile communication, small-model devices such as HTS/LTCC/micromachine, audio, loudspeakers design and testing, architectural and underwater acoustic.
Research grants are from IRPA, IGS and other telecommunication industries. RaCED also offers consultant and testing services on radio communication and acoustic engineering. Some of the research areas that are offered for research postgraduates (including PSM):
- Microwave and RF Devices (antenna, filter, amplifiers, mixers, combiners, power dividers, sensors, inductors, capacitors)
- HTS, LTCC and micromachine devices
- Antenna Design
- Wireless Technology
- EMC/EMI
- Digital modulation technique
- Noise Control
- Acoustic Engineering and Sonar
- Underwater Acoustic
